Tween/Teen Acting for Television: Boston (Ages 10-15)

Time: 10:00am - 3:00pm

(Ages 10-15)

When you watch television, do you think to yourself, ‘I could have played that character!’? Well, NOW YOU CAN! In our Acting for Television Bootcamp for Tweens and Teens, actors will perform scenes from some of their favorite tv shows on networks like Disney and Nickelodeon. Work on your comedic skills and learn to commit to your physical choices. Through improvisation and scene work, kids will improve upon skills such as character development, making distinct character choices, partner interaction, and comedic timing.
ADDITIONALLY...
Registering for this course will also include a free seminar for parents called 'The Business of Show Business.' Here parents will learn about the in’s and outs of show business (which will take place virtually on Monday, August 1 from 6:30pm - 8:30pm). Whether your child is already auditioning and working, or you are just entering the business, there is plenty to learn and discuss. Make smart choices as you learn about obtaining and keeping representation, putting together marketing materials including pictures, resumes and demo reels, where to get proper training, how to avoid scams and more. Discussion will also include “how-to’s” of quickly breaking down scripts with their child and preparing them for an audition as well as self-taping tips.

Imagine yourself in an audition. You may be reviewing a monologue or reciting lines from a scene as you nervously wait to be called in. While preparing, you remind yourself of the notes that you were given by your acting coach. Once in the audition room, you slate and perform your monologue or scene. What happens next is the wild card. The panel of casting, film, and/or TV directors might smile and say, “Thank you, next!” Or they may give you direction and adjustments. In order to take the direction given, you need to have the foundational skills to act and the ability to understand the language and concepts. A casting director or director expects the actor to be trained and ready for the role they’re auditioning for. To succeed in your audition, you need to understand the differences between working with coaches and directors, and the notes you’ll receive from both.
